I needed to fix gaps in the door from my kitchen into the garage. When the old weatherstripping came out, it splintered the wood and I couldn't put a new strip into the groove. Before I installed this, I followed a friend's advice and ran a small layer of expanding foam the length of the wood. After it cured, I cut it down to a slim layer and smoothed it with sandpaper. This made a nice even surface to apply the peel and stick strip. It's been on for a few months now and is holding well. I also applied it to an area of smooth pained wood and to a metal threshold - everything is staying stuck, no peeling off! I live in FL so no extreme cold but there's plenty of heat and humidity and this is holding up.
The length of product meant that I could play around a bit and redo if needed. Overall, I'm happy with the product and my ability to use it
