This is the third or fourth book by Joe Ryder that I've read and reviewed quite positively. The reasons for my positivity are multiple: foremost he thinks and writes and organizes his books logically; next he explains tricky vocabulary, e.g., by what is meant by a service industry -- trucking is an intangible like banking and software development so it falls under the aegis of s.i.; the chapters are organized and built by complexity as in they progress up the value chain; references follow the MLA style book and are ample at the end of the book after vocab. I wish he would turn his attention and writing skills to investing in, say, equities and annuities, so I could ... go there since I don't see myself behind the wheel of a rig. Ten Four!!! Smokies in the air!!!

Solid guide that makes for a greater starters kit to anyone looking to get into the trucking industry. It discusses having the right mentality and outset to even determine if this industry is correct for you. Also, discusses and risk/reward component of the industry. Aside from that it goes into further depth examining the industry as a whole, the pitfalls, different types of trucks and routes as well load types. This is a great high level starters guide that will help someone truly wanting to get into the industry find a launch point. After reading this you will be able drive further into where you want to take your career, what to expect and what you need to research further into"¦

This book isn't for everyone. But if you have a desire to learn the intricacies of the trucking business - from an investment standpoint - then this is a highly valuable book. It spends a bit too much time in the first couple of chapters talking about developing an investment mindset. (To me, this distracted from what I came to the book for - to learn about why this business can be lucrative.) But when he got into the nitty gritty, it was fascinating. It talked about the best places to focus your investments. Understanding larger markets, and even buying new vs used equipment. A worthwhile read if you want to know all about this market.

A book that covers everything you need to know to invest in the trucking business. Well written and informative, the book walks the reader through the basics of investing, describing the right mindset for this business as well as setting reasonable expectations. It was a super interesting read into a topic of which I had only second hand knowledge through the experience of a friend. As far as I could verify, the information described in the book is up to date and accurate. I recommend it to anyone who wants to look into an exciting and not so well known way of investing their money to generate passive income.
