Decent Basic Crosscut Sled Kit
D. Adams✓ Verified Purchase•October 7, 2023
This DIY crosscut table saw sled kit has all the hardware components necessary to build a basic crosscut sled with a sliding stop block. The UHMW bars worked perfectly in my Delta 10" contractor table saw's 3/4" x 3/8" t-miter slots. I do wish the kit included two knobs and bolts though, so I could have both left and right stop blocks. The included instructions are pretty good and thorough enough to get one to the finished sled. Overall, this is a decent basic crosscut sled hardware kit.

If you're looking to build your own cross cut sled, this is a great little kit. Granted, you can make one with scraps around the house but this will give you a truly quality sled when you're done. It comes with rails and everything you need to set one up. Parts are of solid quality and I'm definitely pleased with the order. Overall, I definitely recommend to anyone wanting to build their own sled!

I imagine if you bought a sheet of UHMW (or HDPE) and cut the strips yourself, you'd probably get the per-strip cost down enough that it could more economical on paper to assemble the components of this kit yourself from various sources -- but you'd be spending more in total to buy a bigger sheet of the plastic than you actually need if you're only planning to build a single sled.
So, I'd say if you plan on building several jigs, don't bother with this kit, but if you just want enough hardware (2 x 17" plastic runners, 2 x 12" t-track, plus some screws and a knob) to build a single sled, this kit is a fair deal.
The instructions they provide on how to build a sled aren't great, it's just a one-sheet with some pretty generic instructions, but if you're at the point of needing a sled, hopefully you're already capable of figuring out how to build one. And you can spend a few days on YouTube checking out many different designs for ideas.

Reasonable quality kit for building a crosscut sled

Great for building your first crosscut sled. The runners move smoothly and at $20 plus scraps you probably already have around the shop you can put together the sled pretty easily and affordably.
There are some other options like the MicroJig that have some advantages, but you will pay for the privilege.

If you've got a table saw and haven't discovered the joys of a crosscut sled, this is a great place to start. It includes everything you'll need except the wood. I prefer 3/4" plywood since it's easy to work with and has good dimensional stability, but you can really use anything you want. As long as it's straight and can be squared.
Once you've got a good crosscut sled, you'll find yourself doing most of your cuts on the table saw. I hardly ever use my miter saw anymore. You'll get clean, square cuts on the table saw far more consistently.
