Good for the money

I'm a 92 yr old who played stand up bass for many years including one year for a state symphony orchestra. I am interested in playing melodies on an instrument that would be familiar to me. My bass is too big and heavy now for this old man. Your cello seems ok although a little disappointed at the fingerboard being wood painted black. In any event I'm happy with it, not exstatic but at my age if I live long enough and get fairly good at it I'll buy a better instrument. Since my brain is accustomed to the bass clef I tuned it just like my bass and played the Ave Maria the very first attempt without missing a note.
Change the strings, then it's an Amazing Cello!

When I first received it, I was disappointed because it sounded "tinny" compared to my friend's school rental that I had tried. But then I replaced the cheap strings that came with it with D'Addario Prelude Cello strings (about $60), and suddenly it sounded just like the $1,000+ school cello. Amazing that you can get something this good for $150 plus $60 bucks for good strings.

I was so disappointed when my cello arrived. There were issues with it and I'll not focus on that because the seller was the most surprising. In a good way. They responded in record time and continued to make offers until we reached one that I was happy with. Many sellers require you to jump through hoops and some just frustrate you until you just give up. Ktaxon put their reputation ahead of money. The issue with the original product is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. I give Ktaxon as a seller 5 stars. Thank you for all the effort put into making everything work out in the end.
they helped by emailing how to set up the bridge

Great beginner cello. At first I was taken aback there were no instructions on how to set up the bridge, tune, or even how to rosin the bow...but once I made that known on Amazon, I instantly received an email on how to set up the bridge. Much appreciated for the quick response. Maybe for future neophytes, enclose those wonderful instructions. Here's to making music and learning a new skill.
Good sound.

I'm a beginning cello player and find this instrument to be great for starters. The craftsmanship I is pretty good considering the price, I liked it so much, I just ordered my mom a violin from the same seller! t seems that the strings are off center when the bridge is placed squarely between the notches on the f holes.
One thing I recommend: DO NOT OUT THE BRIDGE IN YOURSELF. TAKE IT TO A LUTHIER! The reason for this is because when you loosen all the the strings you're likely going to knock the sound post out of whack and that will need to be professionally prepared. That's what happened to me. You're better off taking it in first and having them set it up.
Also a note: you can message the company for instructions on how to put the bridge in (again, I don't recommend this) and care for your cello. Many of the negative points others have made in their reviews are issues specifically addressed in those directions.
