We recently bought a range with the controls in the front. We put up a metal backslash behind the stove and the piece that it came with to fill the gap was barely too narrow to fill it. It was all the way back and couldn't go any closer to the wall.
We chose this because the wider side was just a little wider than our gap. We installed with the narrow brackets so they wouldn't interfere with sliding it fully back. We added magnets to the brackets so that we could easily remove it for cleaning, etc. But it won't fall if bumped.

The gap in my slide-in range to the wall is only about 1 inch, it is not common to find a gap filler of this dimension. The piece is well packaged with all the mounting hardware included. The only caution is this piece falls off the bracket it is sitting on quite easily especially for the 1 inch gap situation, so instead of having the vertical section hanging next to the range side, hang it the other way next to the wall, much less likely to fall off.
