We have an indoor cattery, about 500 square feet, with (currently) seven cats living in it. Prior to getting this filter, my wife and I had very different reactions to being in the room - it didn't bother her at all, but if I spent more than a few minutes in there, my eyes would water up, I'd get the sniffles, and the sharp odors of urine and ammonia would make me crazy. Within an hour of turning this filter on, all of those issues went away for me! We leave it on at a low setting, and it is doing a wonderful job of cleaning up the air in there. There is no longer an objectionable smell, and I can stay there as long as I'd like without having my eyes water up or getting the sniffles. Fantastic!

When we received the filter, the shipping container was undamaged. However, the heavy carbon filters had come loose from their mounting plate, and they rattled around inside the unit. This broke off about a million little plastic pieces from the inside of the top piece of plastic on the unit, a large assembly called the diffuser. In addition, another large plastic piece (the pre-filter holder) had a crack in it. Neither of these issues actually affected the filter's functioning, but still - for a new piece of gear with a price tag like this, you'd really like to have it be, well, new and undamaged.

So I called their customer support, was connected almost immediately with a rep named John V., and we had a short, friendly conversation about what had happened. He asked me a few questions, asked me to send some photos of the problems and the serial number, and said they'd ship out replacement parts for me. A few hours later, I got an email with the FedEx tracking number, and two days later, the parts arrived. They were the correct parts, brand new, and replacing them took about 5 minutes (and no tools!). Now my filter is new and undamaged as I'd expect.

Kudos to IQAir and John V. for their excellent customer service - and an excellent product!

Overall this is a fantastic top of the line unit. At full speed it's a little loud but that's to be expected. I don't like that the led lights for the display stay on and flash since this is annoying in a dark room especially a bedroom but easy to cover them.
The main issue is as far as I can tell they don't sell the filters for this unit through Amazon so you have to buy them directly which isn't convenient.

I recently purchased the Atem X as I was concerned about the air quality, seeing as I live in the city. Although it was a little pricey, the quality and functionality make this purchase worth it!

1) Monitoring your Indoor Air Quality Remotely is HUGE

The Atem X comes standard with an air quality sensor that monitors your AQI ( Air Quality Index), PM2.5 concentration, and CO2 concentration as well as the Temperature and humidity. You can view these readings remotely on IQAir's Air Visual App so when you're not at home and concerned about your indoor air quality, you can remotely control the Atem X to start purifying your air manually.

Story Time: I was out and about the weekend after I had purchased my Atem X and noticed that my indoor air quality was at a whopping 150 the outdoor air quality is in the 60-80 range. I knew there was something wrong because the Air Visual App shows me the indoor and outdoor AQI in a side-by-side comparison. Long story short, my bad indoor AQI was a combination of my sister burning something in the kitchen, and my Central AC for the house being clogged up from a bad filter. Without this Atem X, I wouldn't have been able to act on the bad indoor AQI. With the touch of a button, I turned my Atem X on MAX and it cleaned the air quality right away!

2) Smart Mode is a game-changer!

The Atem X has a smart mode that can adjust its fan speed based on your Air Quality. Smart mode has 3 different levels, Quiet, Balanced, and Max. I usually keep it on Max as it allows the unit to use all of the available fan speeds to clean your air as needed, which I recommend.

3) No oscillating fan feature, but Atem X's fan is better!

I was kind of disappointed that this air purifier/ fan combo did not include an oscillating fan feature. However, once you start using the Atem X you realize that the way this system fans your area is superior to a regular oscillating fan. The Atem X blows air throughout your entire room/ space by increasing circulation with IQAir's flexible air rotation technology. Long story short it blows the air at an angle and the higher the fan speed, the more you feel it throughout the entire room vs. having to wait for the oscillating fan to hit you!

I bought this air purifier when we were getting really heavy smoke from the Canadian wildfires. I always knew our indoor air wasn't the best because of my wife's smoking. I'm now seeing a vast improvement with the purifier and the monitor lets me know when to adjust the fan speeds. More often than not we have really good air quality inside of the house. This unit has 6 fans speeds and unless you are really close, you don't even know it's running. Super easy to install the filters and to set up the controls. It runs 24/7, super happy with the investment even though it was pretty expensive. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking at air purifiers.

We bought a HealthPro Plus during a bad wildfire season in SoCal. The IQAir system has really made a huge impact on our indoor air quality. We love it so much that we just bought an Atem X. This unit is beautifully designed with easy app control (a huge upgrade from the HealthPro Plus). It runs very quietly and I just have it on 24/7 for dust and pet dander control. Really high quality product, Swiss designed and made in Germany. It's the best investment for your health!
