Works as expected but straps are not long enough for a car too carrier

Overall this is a great product. I could follow the instructions on paper and the install video. My only complaint is that the nylon straps aren't long enough to get around a car too carrier. This product is marketed to be able to store a car top carrier but the straps are better suited for the size of a surf board or kayak. I had to use my own nylon to make new straps.

This thing works as advertised. Fairly easy to install and operate. Works great to hoist the rooftop box off my car and up to the ceiling. I like the flush mount design. The box hangs only a few inches below the ceiling and is totally out of the way when not in use. I added a couple of 4x4 pieces of wood in between the rafters just to be able to hang the pulleys a little more in line with the roof rack on my car.

This lift comes in a small box. My first thought was, "Is this it?" Yep, it's just a few parts. It's very easy to install. The directions explain everything you need to know. I'm over 60 and it took me about 40 minutes to install by myself and get my Thule box up off the ground. Besides making sure that it's anchored to a joist beam in your garage, the most important thing to consider is the location. If I could have put this right above my SUV so that I could lower it right on to my crossbars I would have. My ceiling is was too short for that so I made sure that it was out of the way from everything else but easy to access when I want to bring it down. You're thinking of buying this because you want to free up space on your floor or wall. I highly recommend this lift for your car/SUV storage box.
