This was my second 150 gallon Deck Box purchase. The box is great for outdoor storage of many items. I had an issue with the screws on the back of the lid being loose and not tightening on this purchase. Customer service was easy to work with, responsive and resolved my issue quickly.

Note when you assemble join the sides together first, then snap onto the base. Don't screw in the screws all the way until you know they are in the right place. You will need someone to hold the lid while you screw it into the base. Other than that it's a one person job.

I am quite surprised by how many other reviewers complained about how difficult this was to assemble. Mine did no come with instructions (as it should have) and yet it came together quickly and easily in about 15 minutes. The design is actually quite clever. More on assembly later, but let me touch on other points:

I ordered white, and it is not really white--more of an off-white in the grayish family. The company does make a point to show this in their copy, and I wasn't sure what to expect--but it is definitely not white. I bought this for use on the flybridge of my boat and it will definitely not match the white fiberglass. Sadly, I could find no others that fit the dimensions I needed so I will live with that.

Quality is excellent; solid, sturdy, and the hinges screw in to metal sockets which helps with longevity. The side pistons screw directly into the plastic, though, with self-tapping screws, so that will certainly be one of the first points of failure over time. I doubt most other brands are any better though.

It is too early to tell if panels will warp in heat over time, if hardware will rust, or if the plastic will fade and oxidize under the sun's UV rays.

Regarding assembly, here are my tips:
1) Place the bottom panel on the ground so that the word "INSIDE" is facing you. This will ensure you have it oriented the right way.
2) The 4 sides actually come in two pieces; a back that is attached to one side, and a front that is attached to one side. The corners of these pieces are flexible/bendable, so that you can open them into the 90 degree corners they should be. DO NOT INSERT THESE PANELS INTO THE BASE UNTIL YOU HAVE TEST FIT THEM TO EACH OTHER. You will discover that the ends of one piece slide vertically down into the ends of the other piece, forming the remaining two corners. Because of this, one section MUST be installed prior to the other, so that the other can slide vertically down into the first one. The moment you test fit these side pieces together, you will understand which one has to be installed first, and which one second. Once you know which one to install first, insert it's tabs into the base.
3) For inserting the side panels into the base, I strongly recommend you use a scrap 2x4 or other piece of wood and a rubber mallet. Position all panels into the base, tap around the perimeter lightly with the mallet on the wood, and as soon as things stick enough turn the whole assembly upside down so that you can do the heavy tapping to the underside of the base.
4) They include a cheap inadequate Phillips screwdriver; use your own, you'll be better off, and don't use a screw gun--it would be overkill and slow you down.

Update: The top won't stay closed unless you use a lock. I would have preferred that when you shut it that it stays down. Therefore, I'm downgrading from 5 to 4 stars

I wasn't sure about the quality given some of the reviews, but I just finished putting it together and I'm pleased. It looks great.

Everything fit together as expected. I'd suggest laying it on the side if you are assembling the lid alone. Otherwise, you need two people so that one person can hold in place as you screw. It took me 45 mins to build this alone. I'm sure that I could have done it more quickly, but I did it while watching football.

Also, I tried using my electric screw driver, but I don't think it was as effective. Plan to build this manually.

The box itself is more spacious than I expected so I'm happy about that. I like that there are joins to hold the lid. Only time will tell if they last.

I've owned several Suncast bins in the past that last 5+ years. Only time will tell the durability on this one. It seems sturdy though so I'm hopeful.

I purchased two of these XXL 230 Gallon Large Deck Boxes. When I purchase anything, "Quality" is always my number one priority, second in line is "Customer Service", Pricing is always low due to the "get what you paid for" aspect. This item is very durable and highly recommended. I did receive one that was damaged on the lid. I contacted customer support via the number provided within the box. They immediately got back to me, and within two days, they replaced the box. I will always go back to this business due to the high quality, integrity and customer service within their respective product lineup. Cannot praise this organization enough.
