I will admit at first, I thought it was off square. When I tried to mark around a 4x4 I was off by an eighth of an inch. I loosened the 2 screws and using a set of machinist blocks to hold it square I retightened the screws and it now comes out square. So, make sure you have it on something flat with a square reference when you put it together.

It is Exactly what it says it is in the description. Mine is square in all planes. As a DIY woodworker and hobbyist, I am surprised how often I reach for this tool. Thinking about buying another one, as I am getting tired of walking across my shop to get this one off my workbench. Heads up through if you can't tell from all the pictures and the description it is Small, for me, it's one of the advantages. Once I used the two provided screws to put it together, it was good to go. If you are looking for something to stick in your pocket and carry around, this ain't it.
