I use these outdoors, to secure netting over my chicken run. They last about 2-3 years here in Central FL before they rust completely. They make installing and removing the netting very easy. I also repair holes with them. Non-typical use, but works for me!

I use these rings on a horizontal pole to trellis string my indeterminate tomato vines. I previously used plastic trellis clips, but after a year these trellis clips become brittle, crack and break. These rings work wonderfully, and hold the heavy vines with their tomatoes stung to the string system.

We had a tarp covering some equipment; it was folded in half, and we wanted to hold the ends together so it wouldn't blow off. We tried using bungee cords, but they didn't hold, so we though of rings like this and purchased these. They are EXACTLY what we needed; big enough to handle easily, and the tarp stays in place. Wonderful!
There is one small flaw for outdoor use: the hinges on these get rusty, and they become harder (some MUCH harder) to open and close after just a few months. We have oiled the hinges, and that helped. I'm not sure how well these are suited for long-term outdoor use. This is why this is four stars instead of five.
Summary: if you plan to use them indoors, buy with confidence; they are just wonderful. The rings hold together well. If you plan to use them outdoors, just be aware that you may need to replace them after a few months. The box has 100 rings, so there are plenty of replacements.
