I live in a sketch neighborhood in DC and bikes get stolen all the time. In my new place I cant physical bring up my bike to my apartment due to the narrow stairs and low ceilings. So I bought this to go around a large wooden pillar and I also use a U lock for the back tire and frame. And knock on wood, no one has attempted to steal the bike in 3 months since I got this. This works great to lock your chain link fence. Of course, someone can cut it, but for us it keeps our dog in - he's big and could accidentally unlatch it - and it keeps someone from stealing him. It also keeps people out unless they carry chain cutters with them. It's easy to unlock and lock back up.
