Hot weather, no regular opening windows on ground floor, only those that open sideways with a lever. Last option was sliding door! Installed panels on sliding door and bought a floor air conditioner 10,000 BTU for $350 at BJ's and situation corrected. I use a 2X 4 wood on the bottom of the sliding door to prevent further opening and provides security. Please install the panels against the door frame, not the sliding door! Use a few screws and you can still open the sliding door and the screen door"¦ Listen to my reasoning, here in North East summer is only a few months so I can get away with air conditioners unlike other states that have home units. My replacement for air conditioners will always be much cheaper than installing a home unit.. I'm trying to cut down on expenses if I wish to someday retire"¦

I've moved full-time to my mountain cabin, due to the pandemic. For 30 years I never had AC, because I was only here for a week at a time, and I could handle it. But now, I need it! Especially with the heat waves that have been scorching New England. The house retains heat (a winter plus) so at night, even when it cools down outside, the inside temperature is easily 10-degrees hotter, even with all the windows open. No way to use window units here, so I bought two GE portable air conditioners - a big one and a small one. I ordered both sizes of these Portable Air Conditioner Sliding Door Vent Kits, and I could not be happier. The first one - the 5" kit - was my learning curve. Even so, perfect! The second kit - the 5.9" was a breeze, so to speak. They fit my AC hoses, and my sliding glass doors perfectly. I took the advice of the other reviewers here, and used my own weather seal - for me, I chose the FrostKing EPDM D-Profile Self-Stick Weatherseal - 5/16" Wide by 1/4" Thick X 17' long. Two of those packages were just about enough for both kits. For security I cut a 1 X 2" and dropped it in the jamb - perfect. Seriously, these kits work, they look good, they fit tight, and they're easy to install. I love 'em. I do have an improvement planned - because since the vents open out onto my deck, I'm going to put some dryer vent screen over the hose opening - to keep critters out of it. But that's it! So as the temperature and humidity climb today - who cares? Because I'm comfortable as can be. Thank you!

Hi! If you just purchased the LG LP1022FVSM like I did (so far really happy with that ⛄ï¸) and you don't know which size to get, get the 5.9 inch package. The 5.1 is too small but since the reviews for these products are all jumbled together it's hard to differentiate what goes with what. It took me a few different models of sliding door vent units to try but this one worked the best. You will need to replace the manufacturer hose head with the one in the kit. The one in this kit isn't as good of quality as the LG one, but how silly is LG for not selling a sliding door kit or even giving me the option to buy one or two more sliders for a vent for my door?! Grrrr. Anyways, I am not the handiest of people but I set it up with no problem. It does the job. Is it perfect? No, but like I said, I am happy to have something that fits my slider and doesn't look too bad.

Apparently humidity doesn't exist where this was created. Thought I was missing something at first, but did a lot of research now and they definitely should have included a drainage hole. Everything else was great though.

This thing did its job for the summer time in Southern California in San Diego. It was really useful for putting inside the sliding glass door that connects to my balcony. However, it still was a few inches short I'm not sure if that was a user error because I did have a little bit of a tough time setting it up, but I did have to put some weatherproof strips at the very top of my door frame in order to keep it to not let the air out
