Almost Perfect For My Black Tank

Our camper has a 5 gallon recirculating toilet. Dragging around one of those huge portable tanks was out of the question. Then I discovered this PERFECT tote. It's 6.6 gallon size is perfect for my needs and the unit itself takes up very little space for storage. I only have two complaints...keep reading.
I took an old drain hose and shortened it to about 2' in length to use when draining into this tote. That worked out well. After dumping the black tank I would connect it to the gray water tank and quickly open and close the valve to basically rinse out my dump hose.
I would always carry a gallon of water to rinse out the tank after dumping. This seemed to work well.
One complaint is that the air relief button does not allow the tank to empty quickly; in hindsight...this does reduce the chance of things splashing while emptying. The other is that you MUST loosen the dump spout cap to allow air to escape while filling the tank. If you don't, you will get blowback around the hose and the tank. This was experienced first hand and it did make a mess. Now that I know what to do...no big deal!
All in all...I am very happy with this unit and it has extended our dry camping days by allowing me to dump my black tank into the vault toilets at the campground. As with all things...practice at home to get used to using this tote...that will make your first real experience using it much more enjoyable. Thanks!

It does exactly what it says and it holds more than it looks like it would. It's sturdy and well made. I had a little trouble getting it lined up and I suggest another hose to connect the two will make my life much easier in this regard
