Through the years I have been asked by patients for a book recommendation that can explain Chinese Medicine. There is none, as CM is quite encompassing with so many different flavors and varieties. There are thicker books out there, but no quick reads as a basic patient primer. That is until now. Toby Daly has done a great service for my patients in publishing his experience with Chinese Medicine. I have 2 copies in my waiting area and get positive remarks everyday. I just had another patient tell me they are buying a copy (which prompted me to write this review).

Toby Daly has accomplished that which can sometimes feel very difficult for us acupuncturists. His book "An Introduction To Chinese Medicine" explains simply and succinctly what traditional Chinese Medicine is all about. The intended audience is the new patient or Western layman that is curious about Chinese Medicine. This book explains the basic history, ideas, and modalities of Chinese Medicine while answering a few basic questions the reader may have like "Does acupuncture hurt?".
This is not a book for someone hoping to learn even the basic fundamental theories of traditional Chinese Medicine. This is a book for a prospective patient to peruse and get a good idea of what the medicine is all about. It is now displayed prominently in my clinic so that anyone curious can get a good basic overview. Five Stars!

So many patients in my acupuncture office have really enjoyed this small book. Many have bought their own copies to peruse or share with friends and family. I shouldn't be surprised by how much attention Toby's book has garnered, but all my patients seem to love this book!

This is an excellent introduction to the guiding principles of things like acupuncture and other traditional Chinese methods. I come from a very Western background and wanted to learn more as I had begun acupuncture recently. This author does a great job of describing and explaining the tenants behind the practice. Highly recommended!

Perfect book to gain knowledge of Chinese Medicine. As a lay person I really enjoyed this informative book
