My little one has been getting more curious about the outside world and bugs and things like that so I thought he would have alot of fun with an ant farm. I found this one which seemed like a really good one for a beginner, first time ant farm keeper. The box came with the farm and everything we needed to set it up and get it ready for the ants. the sand is white and the whole ant farm is clear with a few sections of white acrylic for privacy and stability for the ants. We got the farm all set up and ready for the ants and my husband accidently knocked the whole thing off the shelf. It actually held up really well but one small piece of the side panel acrylic panel broke in an area where ants would be able to escape so we ended up having to throw it away and order a new one. But once we got the new one all set up i ordered some special harvester ants which were not too expensive and much larger than the little ones outside that we were not having much luck catching. He has been fascinated watching them build their tunnels and completely fill up the empty chamber in the farm that was made for the ants to do whatever they wanted with it. it is super easy to feed and water them and I spend just as much time watching them as they work and go about their day. The price is reasonable and the quality is really good. It has little holes that are plugged up also that you can connect by special tubes to other farms if you are wanting to expand into a much larger ant farm colony. we both love it. I would absolutely recommend this to others
