I noted previous reviews about the difficulty locking the umbrella. It's true but workable. Just takes some patience. Be aware that you have to carefully fold the layers to put it in its sleeve.

Purchased to keep the sun off of my face and shoulders for a Mediterranean vacation. It worked very well. Pretty design and small enough to throw in a purse or beach bag. Gave 4 stars but would have given 4.5 if that had been an option.. the snap on the storage cover fell off the day the umbrella arrived. Still, it doesn't have any overall effect on the usefulness of the umbrella. Feels quite sturdy and I think it will last.

Okay, well I ordered one and thought it was going to work for me but I couldn't get it to lock in its open position. So I asked for an exchange. The replacement arrived THE NEXT DAY!. Wow. But then I couldn't get it to lock open either. Ugh. A friend was playing around with it trying to get it to work and she finally figure it out. So, I'm keeping both, paying for both and giving one to her. She really liked it. SO HERE IS THE SECRETE: Look at the close up of the release button/clear plastic slider. I was pushing on the release button as I pushed the umbrella open, thinking it would click and then I'd release the button and it would be open. That's how my other umbrellas work. Not this one. Press on the clear plastic sides as you push it open, and push hard, and it will finally engage. One of the two I got is a little easier than the other. My friend kept the hardest one.
So, it takes major pressure to get it to lock open, but it does work if you keep your fingers off the button and press on the clear sides of the slider. Good luck!
The color is true. It is small enough to fit in the water bottle slot of my purse, but it is big enough to keep the sun off me at Saturday Market, or wherever I have to be in the hot sun longer than my Scottish skin would like. :)
I'm not going to say I love it, but it is pleasant enough and is satisfactory.
