As described. Easy to "corkscrew" into my Geobin with leaves and scraps inside. If you get real deep down, it can be a workout to pull out for me but I think that's because my sweet potato vines haven't broken down. Seems sturdy. I'm pleased with the purchase and would buy again.

I ordered this EJWOX Compost Aerator Tool to (duh) aerate my compost.
On the plus side, this thing does a good job of carrying compost from the bottom of the pile to the top. You just need to remember to turn it in the proper direction. On the negative side, it's made of two pieces that are joined by a ferrule that is held in place by two screws. I'm sure that the two-piece nature of this tool is based upon ease in shipping, but I have some concerns about how well it will hold up over time. It does take a fair bit of pressure to get this thing to the bottom of the pile, and it's also subjected to stress when being turned to raise the bottom of the pile to the top. I would have preferred a one piece design.

Works Good for Smaller Compost Piles

This compost aerator tool seems to be sturdy and well made. It is pretty easy to turn the handles and screw the aerator deep into the compost where it grabs onto the bottom and middle layers and lets you pull them up to the surface. It doesn't move a lot of compost at a time, so it is better for smaller, residential compost piles like mine.

I was pleasantly surprised how easy this aerator is to use. I really didn't have great expectations, but it is easy to rotate and helps turn the compost without having to use the traditional method of pitch forking the compost into a new pile in order to turn it. So far, it seems to do what I need and makes composting for me less labor intensive and not a task I dread.
