This is exactly the style I wanted for my little leaguer. While I love the sport, having played it myself, I want him as safe as he can be while playing. Getting him to wear extra things (even batting gloves) is always a challenge, but he finally acquiesced. He hasn't been hit by a pitch yet, but the construction feels sturdy and durable, and I think it would offer great protection. He does think it's a pain to have to call time and take it off and give it to the coach when he gets on the bases, but that's a him thing. He also said it feels weird but I think it fits him fine and he just needs to get used to it. He's 11.5 and it is able to fit him very well, even with his tall, long, skinny arms. Overall, I recommend this as protection for your little leaguer. The only thing left is to wait and see how long it stands the test of time and being hit by pitches.
