Update:
I did stick the hook on a cupboard. Even though it stuck really well, it cannot hold very much weight. A full size curling or straightening iron, is too much to keep the hook attached to the wall. One mini iron would probably be fine, but I don't want to chance it, so I'm not storing anything in this.

I have been using a plain mat on the counter for years. I like this better, because I can stick it anywhere on my bathroom counter, drop the iron in it, and I don't have to worry about the iron twisting around on the counter and accidentally getting burned on it.

My countertops are tile, and this feels very secure. It doesn't stick very well where the grout is though. It can be placed on the countertop, or hanging off the edge. I like the versatility.

Keep in mind that it should be removed from the counter and hung on the hook when you are done using it to hold a hot iron. Because eventually the suction cups will come come loose, even if their is no weight inside of it, and it will fall to the floor.

Doesn't stick well on my white countertops. But, putting weight on top keeps it in place.

I got this for my flat iron. I've used it for several months and have had no issue with it slipping at all. The size is perfect for my flat iron. There is more room for a brush or curler maybe too. I went with gray to match my bathroom vanity and it blends well. I have it suctioned to my counter which is marble. We take it off every 2 weeks when the cleaner comes and it's shown no signs of breaking down. I can see so many other uses for this on desk tops or kitchens even. Definitely a useful and quality item.

I was excited to clear up some counter space and have this for hanging hot tools. It did work some but wouldn't stay put for very long. It is a well made silicone and works great laying on the counter. If it stayed put with the suction better it would be 5 stars.
