Are you in a radioactive area?
Big-Foot✓ Verified Purchase•December 30, 2023
I hike and explore old abandoned mines and caves around Arizona - the state where they mine much of the uranium used here in the USA. It's nice to be able to know if I am entering an area that is "hot".
There's not much you can do to test this unit or to calibrate it. I have not found any way to initiate a self calibration to this point and the instructions that came with it are sparse. Because of that, I have only given it 4 stars. It is priced below many other detectors, so that is a plus.
I keep up with my reviews and will update this one should the need arise.
For now, it has earned my Big-Foot "stomp" of approval and 4 stars.

I mean, it works?

It works, this is mostly a piece of mind item, unless a nuclear war happens, then I would say this item would work really well. It is easy to use and includes a carrying case, so you can easily transport it.
I guess?

I guess it works and seems easy enough to use. I don't have another way to measure to compare results so I'm assuming it does what it says it does. Seems to be good quality with a nice case.
Hope we never have to use it.

Read the instructions and fired it up, thankfully nothing to find. This is more for peace of mind incase the worst happens.
