This is a very nice flute cleaning and maintenance kit. I've been playing a long time and I really like it!

First off, the cloths and cleaning brushes are a lovely shade of deep purple! There is a 6 x 12 inch eggplant-shaped hemmed cleaning cloth with a weighted cord on the end used to remove moisture from the inside of the flute after playing. Just drop the weighted end of the cord down the flute and then pull the cloth through. There is an 11 x11 inch cleaning cloth to polish the exterior of the flute or to use with the included flexible plastic cleaning rod. The cleaning rod has the traditional markings on one end that are used to line up placement of the headpiece end cork for tuning.

There are also two smaller bits of cloth that I can only imagine are designed to allow you to get up between the keys and under the hinged bits.

The purple cleaning cloths worked well in removing smudges and fingerprints and breath-marks on the mouthpiece. I dripped water from the tap on them and they were very absorbent.

After polishing up my flute to test the cleaning cloth, I suddenly thought that maybe the included gloves might be worth investigating so I didn't want to get fingerprints on my newly beautified flute!!

There are two fluffy cleaning rods for the inside of the flute, they differ only in that one looks to have finer threads. Since some of my flute cases don't have room to store a cleaning rod and cloth, this may come in handy since you can store that inside the long flute section.

They have also included key oil with a fine applicator tip and a tube of cork grease. Of all of this the only thing I didn't understand is the cork grease. In doing a bit of research I find that some of the more unique flutes and piccolos may have a bit of cork where the pieces connect. This stuff is called cork grease for a reason, do not use it on metal parts. It can easily oxidize into a gooey mess that will joyously stick the flute parts together!!

All in all, I'm very impressed with this kit and will enjoy using it. Buy it for yourself, a beginning musician or it would make a wonderful stocking stuffer.

The cleaning and polishing swabs in this kit are really soft. My flute was heavily tarnished and oxidized, and these swabs were still able to put a shine on it. The cleaning rod included is pretty standard. I do really like the fluffy cleaning rods that come it. You get 2 of them, a longer one and shorter one. These are best for a quick cleaning for the inside of the flute.

I got this mostly for the cleaning cloth and that remains my favorite part. It has a metal-weighted string you can use to drop and then pull through the absorbant microfiber cloth. I was skeptical at first because the cloth seems too small to work, but was pleasantly surprised that it works better than all the larger rags I've used before.

I was also very pleased with the microfiber pad wipes, which got my sticky keys to quiet down finally. I do think you have to be careful with them though. The paper wipes are so delicate you can't really hurt your pads, but I could see someone being overeager with these wipes and yanking too hard. Pads are delicate, folks!

The rest is just nice to have on hand. The key oil and cork grease will probably last a lifetime (if they don't dry out first). The gloves are fine for getting your instrument 100% pristine after cleaning... but these are handheld instruments, so fingerprints are inevitable.

Cons: I wish the rod was metal instead of plastic. And the fiber pipecleaners are for dust and grime only. They do not absorb water AT ALL.

I want to say this is a very completed set of cleaning tools you are going to need. Especially for the beginner's family who have no experience and idea of what is going to need for instrument cleaning. Saving so much hassles. Just get it if you are also struggling on what to get for your flutiest beginner.
