The light is bright in the Light Up Tracing Pad for Kids, enough to place a printed sheet below and a blank sheet directly on top. There is no glass cover, it's just one solid lighted base (so no taping blank sheet to glass with original below glass). I tried using a printed page from comic strip to trace and light did not shine through it so I think you can only use black and white for your originals to trace. I still think budding artists will enjoy this tracing tablet and it's sturdy enough for car rides, easy to use, and reasonably priced.

This is a great light pad. It has 2 brightnesses, comes with a set of small colored pencils, a full size #2 pencil, several images to trace and about 10 thin sheets of blank paper. My only gripe is that the screen is just slightly smaller than a sheet of paper which means the paper will never lay completely flat. It is also lacking storage for the paper. It would be very nice to have a slot or hinged cover to store the paper or writing tools, making it very travel friendly.
