very simple and effective flickering light

This is a nice effect and it's pretty awesome that it's such a compact package. I've tried buying a similar flicker controller, but I had to find a matching light and power supply... This one comes with a 9v battery adapter and the LED bulb (and there's two of them!)

Ok, so first you must know I'm an adult who goes trick or treating with my grand daughter (who also tells me what I must be). I always try to have some kind of a WOW when I show up in my costume but I've never heard of Scarlet Witch. So after a few minutes with Google Images I decided my "WOW" would be hands that looked like they were holding a fire ball of some kind.
Yeah, that's not easy to find. But I did find these, and in my mind, I wanted to somehow magnify the effect, so in the second image the weird silver stuff you see on my hands is little adhesive glass mirror tiles you can also get here on Amazon. It's a tiny roll of mirrored tiles to make things reflect light like a disco ball. Cleaned off the hands with a cotton ball and a little rubbing alcohol and those tiles stuck to me all night!
Overall, (especially out wandering around in the dark) the effect was pretty darn good. My grand daughter helped me tape all the wires and the 9 volt battery to my arms under the costume (you can see the battery on one photo because we hadn't taped that arm yet)
After all this, I will let you know that they really are not made for a costume application. There are several places where you need to connect wires together and the connectors are very delicate and come apart very easily. I taped all those together too, but one wrong move and it would have been lights out! So for a simple "faux fire" effect they"ll work, but it's more of a doll house fire, not your living room fire.
I also can't really tell you how long it will last with that 9 volt battery. I had mine hooked up to the batteries for probably 3 1/2 - 4 hours straight with no decrease in performance, but now they're disassembled and packed away in my costume stash. I suppose that's a suitable amount of time though.
