I was having a problem with keeping my things from falling off the nightstand at night... and rolling under the bed or falling off the back of the stand. Nothing like getting up in the middle of the night and search for eye drops or lip balm!! Thought about making "something", but didn't want a high side that would impede my replacing the remotes at night and took the measurements... 18" x 16" and put TRAY into Amazon search. This was the only tray that looked like our furniture AND the picture showed that their MIGHT be a small lip on the bottom... YES, IT DOES!!
