The pictures do not do this item justice. The gold is much more vibrant and beautiful in person! You can tell it is mass-produced but still a pretty nice quality, especially for the price. A cross like this could easily cost twice as much so thankful for something more fairly priced.

This is a beautiful crucifix that looks much better in person than in the photos. Its rich golden color is accented by hand painted silver details.

It comes ready for hanging on the wall, with cleats installed on the back.

What's missing in the description for this listing is that this is a Saint Benedict Crucifix, with the reverse side of a Saint Benedict medal being used as a halo for the corpus of the crucified Christ.

For those unfamiliar with the St. Benedict medal, it represents a prayer to invoke God's blessing and protection through the intercession of St. Benedict. The inscriptions on the medal are as follows:

Within the cross on the medal contains the letters C S S M L - N D S M D, initials of the Latin words Crux sacra sit mihi lux! Nunquam draco sit mihi dux! ('May the holy cross be my light! May the dragon never be my overlord!'). The large C S P B stand for Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti ('The Cross of our Holy Father Benedict').

Surrounding the circumference of the medal are the letters V R S N S M V - S M Q L I V B, in reference to Vade retro satana: Vade retro Satana! Numquam suade mihi vana! Sunt mala quae libas. Ipse venena bibas! ('Begone Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities! What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself!') and finally, located at the top is the word PAX which means 'peace'

Our family has many "holy reminders" in each room of our home. Some are quite expensive. At only $17.99, this crucifix is an incredible bargain. It looks like it could cost 10 times that amount.

This is a very nice crucifix, very detailed. A tad on the cheap side, paint job had a few minor issues, but otherwise very nice and better than expected.

I like the size and style, with the St. Benedict medal in the background. Great for a confirmation or first communion gift, and easy to have it shipped and/or gift wrapped. The paint job/craftsmanship is pretty good- for the price it does look nice.

This cross is prettier in person. I bought it for my daughter to put on the wall near her bed at college. She loves it.
