Some nights they last a little longer than 7-8 hours but sometimes they cut out about 7-8 hours in. It really just depends. But that is fine since the sun sets by 5 PM here and they go out at about 12-1 AM when usually not that many are around to see them anyway at that time of night. Also, some days have been cloudier. I live in a modest upstairs apartment and these wrapped perfectly around the railing of my balcony and are perfectly visible to those around the area. My only real complaint is these things are basically shaped like ninja stars and the fairly sharp tips cause them to get tangled with each other VERY easy and they can also poke you quite a bit if you are not careful. Took me a long time to untangle, and then once they were untangled, they easily tangled once again when I had barely touched them. Just be careful and patient.

I bought these lights just after Thanksgiving and put them up in the apple tree in my side yard, thinking that maybe they'd be ok lights for a couple hours a night. After all, Seattle is gloomy in the winter, and solar doesn't seem like a great bet for midwinter outdoor lighting. But these lights have been GREAT. The only time they didn't light up was when the solar panel was buried in the snow. Other than that, they've been on like clockwork every day and dusk, bright and cheery for several hours. It's now May and I just took them down over the weekend, they were still going strong every night. I'm buying a couple more strings for next Christmas.
