Good in certain situations, or if your knife skills aren’t that great

Like many, I saw this type of mandoline on social media (dang influencers) and was influenced to try it out. Background: home cook with way too many kitchen gadgets, cooking knife collector/geek.
Does it work? Yes. Will I be using it often? Probably not, BUT it ultimately depends on the situation. Like food processors, it's finding your personal point of cost:benefit ratio where the time and energy saved by using this over a knife outweighs that needed to clean it. Slicing up one onion? Knife. Julienning a big bowl of carrots/etc for coleslaw? Yeah, this is handy.
Will I use this over my Thomas Keller recommended conventional mandoline I've been happy with? Probably depends on the situation again. A conventional mandoline:
+ can fine tune slice thickness
+ is easier to clean
+ is easier to setup
+ tends to take up less storage space
+ tends to have fewer parts that can break
+ isn't limited to foods that fit in a chute (ex: you could slice a zucchini lengthwise)
~ may or may not be as stable (needing to find a bowl/etc to set it over, while this is all set)
- needs more caution from accidentally slicing yourself
Build quality is ok - not great, but not bad. Wouldn't fit in at Williams Sonoma, but think closer to Target, maybe a smidge below. Plastic feels stable, but a bit cheap. Blades not the greatest; one had a sizeable burr out of the box. Chopping action feels fairly smooth, but can squeak from the plastic on plastic friction.

Safest Mandolin I’ve Ever Used

The media could not be loaded. This is the safest mandolin I've ever used and it provides good results. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 because the chute is very large and there are no provisions for a smaller one, such as when slicing one carrot or celery stick. I learned it is important to nut the flat side of the celery facing down. The ther reason that contributed to 4 stars instead of 5 is storage.
Easy to use, a little more difficult to clean

I loved using this product. Once you figure it out, it is really easy to set up and take apart. The blades are very sharp so they cut things nicely. And I have used it mostly for carrots and onions and have been really impressed with the results. The smallest one really chops my onions finely, and I've liked using the one of the bigger one to just quickly cut my carrots into smaller pieces. It's such a timesaver with that.
The only downside is washing the thing is more difficult. There are a lot of little nooks and cracks where stuff gets stuck. It came with a little brush to help, and it does, but it still felt kind of time consuming to go through and brush out every little space.
Regardless of that though, I do like how fast I can chop things up so I keep using it!

My husband could not stop saying how awesome this was. We chopped and sliced carrots, onions, potatoes, and celery. It was super easy to use and love how it came with different slicing options. Folds down easy and was super easy to clean.
Works well and keeps fingers safe, but requires a bit of force to cut

This safe slicer works well in concept, but in practice, you might just give up and opt for a knife or a grater. This safe slicer has an intuitive and thoughtful design that is easy to assemble and switch out blades. While it is possible to cut your finger on the blade as you are switching gout the plastic slabs, the plastic sides are fairly large so that you never should have to touch the blades. Once the blades are installed in the device, you won't have to worry about cutting your fingers. I like how the product includes a variety of blades that offers different kinds of cuts from slices to strips. The overall design also ensures that all parts fit where they should, and the general use is intuitive. The push lever handle is wide and easy to grasp. The lever also springs back smoothly each time.
The main drawback is that the harder the item you are trying to cut, the more force it requires to cut. That may seem obvious, but what I mean is that using a knife is smoother and requires less force. For example, when trying to cut a medium-sized carrot into slices, I had to push really hard on the lever in order for the blade to cut through the carrot. If I were using a knife, I could quickly cut the carrot into slices faster and with less effort. On top of that, the clean up for the device takes extra effort as pieces of the veggies get stuck in some of the crevices along the bottom. It's nice that the kit includes a small brush for this purpose, but if I were using a knife or a grater, clean up would be faster.
In the end, I would recommend this Vihoom Safe Mandoline Slicer for those who are aware of its limitations and are purchasing this because they want a safer way to cut softer items. But for some people, using a knife and a grater the old-fashioned way is faster and easier.
