This is a tiny device but great for travel. Not sure how it will work for horses but it seems to work well and seems accurate for cats and dogs. It comes with everything you need to get started so you don't have to wait on testing strips and a lancing device. As I'm not a vet I won't tell you how to best use this just follow your vets recommendation on how best to use and often to use as each animal is different.

This pet glucose monitor is just as easy to use as the human glucose monitor that I have. Just use the lancet, collect the blood drop on the strip, and let the glucometer do it's thing. I can't provide input on the accuracy, since I have no way to compare it with another glucometer (and the human glucometer isn't accurate for pets). But overall, the pet glucose monitor seems good quality. I'm glad to have it on hand so I can check my pets if the need arises.

This diabetes kit is pretty decent but there's a couple things I'm not a fan of. My cat has to get insulin shots and because he's still being fostered technically the vet usually covers his supplies. Eventually they won't cover that anymore so I wanted to make sure I have my own equipment. It's pretty high tech and because my cat is used to doing this it's a pretty simple thing. One thing I don't like with this kit is the lancet is pretty bad compared to the other one we have that's from a different AlphaTRAK brand. The testing strips are also harder to use although I do like that it absorbs from the center instead of the side of the strip. It just feels like a newer model should be more convenient than an older model and that's not fully the case with the 3.
It's not a bad system and it works as it should it's just the convenience factor that I'm not sold on compared to the one I'm already used to using. The strips are also pretty pricy.

good addition for an emergency/first aid kit

i have been working on putting together a first aid/emergency kit for my cats, as well as for any stray/lost cats that end up in my care. i do not have any experience with diabetic cats and don't know too entirely much about this kit, but i felt that this was an important thing to have in my possession just in case. i hope i will never actually end up needing it, but it is a relief to me knowing that i have it.
