This recorder is small and very lightweight. It has buttons that can be used for playback control. Recording is as simple as flipping a switch, but the control buttons can also be used to activate some additional features such as voice activated recording. Recording quality is fairly good, although some distortion is possible if the recorder is less than two feet from the speaker being recorded or if the environment is noisy. Time is set in a text file called FACTORY.TXT, but this file is not included. It appears that no other settings are available to be set in this file. A time sync tool is included, but it was not designed for the Linux system where I connected the recorder, so I set it manually. I only found two recording bitrates: 32Kb/s 8KHz and 256Kb/s 16KHz. The lower bit rate is referred to in the manual as noise reduction, although it only adjusts the bit rate, which tends to muffle the recording rather than reducing background noise. Playback is either done from a PC or from a MicroUSB cable with a 3.5mm output jack. Overall, this is a decent recorder for quiet environments or covert recording, but due to the fairly low bit rates and sampling rates, I would not use this in a professional setting such as for recording interviews, music, etc.
