The Xiaomi Mi band is a great alternative to the FitBit. I have been using them since model 3. I particularly like the model 8 features with the easy to snap on replacement band features. That was always a problem having to pop out the watch part to put into a new band. Now you just press a button and the band comes of and a new one can be put on. The connection to my phone is good and reliable and the supporting software is very easy to use. I wear my Mi Fit watch every day.

This was an ok purchase. The closure is easy to use, the screen is responsive. Wish it was a bit thinner, but all the fitness bands are kind of chunky, so it's not a trait unique to this particular product. There seems to be a discrepancy between the band's pedometer count and my phone's. I'd expect the band to be higher, since I have it on all the time and I don't always have my phone in my pocket, but sometimes the phone's step count is higher. By quite a bit, actually. So one of them is clearly inaccurate. Maybe both. But I don't really get hung up on calories burned or exact number of steps taken.
My biggest complaint, which is still fairly small, is that the free phone app that the band pairs with for extra features (changing the design on the face, customizing which widgets it shows, looking at steps and stuff from past days, weeks, months) does not allow the user to use non-metric units. I get it, the rest of the world uses a lot of metric units. I wouldn't care if metric was the default, but it's irritating that there's no option for things like weight, distance, etc. If I want to enter my weight, I have to figure out pounds to kilos first, because inputting in pounds is not an option. It seems like this would be a fairly easy feature to add, but that's also technically an issue with the app, not the band itself.
