It's what it should be but I am not sure it should be considered freeze proof. The first one I got cracked when rain in it froze. The price is low enough that I bought another to replace it. I'll just have to remember to dump it if it's going to freeze.

My old rain gauge was mounted on the fence, but it kept falling off with the wind. I bough this, and it's perfect. Easy to install, and I can read it from a distance. Seems to be accurate..it was fun to have it here for our big rain.

The media could not be loaded. PROS: Looks awesome, black color is rich, seconds to put together, strong and sturdy, and has held up through quite a few snow and wind storms. Easy to read and take photos of the snow level from indoors from far distances. (see pics and video from second floor)
CON 1: The plastic window came foggy and scuffed up. I hoped it was a thin protective film that could be pulled off, but alas, no. (see pic)
CON 2: Once installed outdoors, the thermostat always reads between 40-50 degrees even when below freezing and below zero. Couldn't figure out if it was possible to calibrate it. Says to remove cover to adjust temp, but the cover isn't removable and it didn't come with a bottom cover (not sure if it should have or not).
VIDEO: From 2nd Story showing ability to zoom in with an iPhone 15 Pro Max and very clearly see the gauge.
I was unable to exchange it within the return window because I was injured.
SUGGESTIONS: Please offer this in bright cherry red and bright royal blue.
