I want to start out by saying that this in no way is a fitness tracker, if you are into fitness in any way and have an Apple Watch continue to use your Apple Watch. If you are curious about your sleep, stress, your period cycle I would say this is a good purchase, and get the ring sizing kit. Also make sure you check with your insurance provider "” they might just cover this.
1. Sleep- this really goes into detail about how much lite, deep, and REM sleep, this also calculates how long it takes you to fall asleep, your movements throughout the night, a part of this calculates your readiness (will talk about that at the end)
2. Live Heart Rate - this along with the "daytime stress feature (will do into that on 3), you can actually monitor your heart rate and do a "live" heart rate and actually feel the beats per minute, it calculates your HR in 30 minute increments. This will measure your HR at night (and it kinda calls you out if you have an elevated HR from drinking alcohol)
3. Daytime stress - the app/ ring is able to calculate your HR based on stress (this will take a couple of weeks to figure out). It tells me when I'm in relaxed, engaged and stress stage, and the restored stage (how long it will take you to recover from being stressed) this has really been helpful for me especially since working from home. This plays into your Rediness score.
4. Cycle Insights / Natural cycle- Ladies this one is for you if you are looking to come off hormonal birth control and/or looking to start a family or if you're honestly just curious. I will say the more data that you provide the app on your last 6 periods the better it has predicting (but no worries if you don't know it) will talk about the natural cycles app in a few. This will take your body temperature every day and create a graph, when you download the natural cycles app (which btw pairs wonderfully with the Oura ring) every morning you will open up the Oura ring app and allow everything to sync then it will transfer that data to your natural cycles app. There you will have Green Day's ( your safe days for s*x), and red days when it's not safe (unless looking to start a family I'm sure yours will be very different from mine). This will predict days of ovulation based on your body temp. And your est. next cycle. You will then fill out this form it will ask you if you've had s*x, bleeding (for period), LH test, ovulation symptoms and your overall "how are you feeling". The more information you give the app the better.
5. Your Readiness Score - basically everything I talked about sleep, HR, temperature, "activity" even though I don't use it. I put my Apple Watch information into it" your stress, this calculates everything and gives you a readiness score to take on your day. It may give you advice to relax, call you out on your drinking "hey your HR was elevated did you consume alcohol or have a late light snack" sometimes it can tell you that you might be coming down with something, or that you can take the day on.
I will say there are CONS"” it's a wellness ring, not a fitness ring. The app"¦"¦ it's $5.99 a month"¦ for a ring that you pay $350 based on the ring and finish. Kind of annoying. This does scuff pretty easy (so if you wear this while working out get a ring protector).
However the Pro's outweigh the cons"¦. I'm able to learn a lot about my sleep I've got some PTSD/ insomnia from the military. I've been able to learn a lot about my stress and period tracking. I think this was very much worth the purchase (I did hold off for a year).

So functional!

I've had the Oura ring for a month now and I love it so much! I had wanted this ring since it first came out but could never afford it. Now that you can use your FSA/HSA, it is possible. Since I used mine, I went with my favorite color rose gold. The color itself is gorgeous but not a true rose gold. It's more of a true gold. Doesn't matter because it's beautiful and so functional. I look forward to waking up and checking my stats on the app. It is so accurate too! I thought I was getting a bit sick one day and it told me to take it easy so it picked up on the changes within my body. The sleep tracking is what I mainly got the ring for. I have trouble tossing and turning all night and this ring picks up on my sleep cycles. It will give suggestions of when you should go to sleep to get a better night's rest. It is pretty comfortable to sleep with as well. Doesn't bother me at all.
Choosing the right size of ring is very important. Since our fingers do tend to swell in our sleep and with the weather. I recommend sizing up. I usually wear a size 8 but with the sizing kit, I found I had to size up to a 9. Even when my finger has swelled, it's not uncomfortable at least for me.
I have seen a lot of people being put off on the monthly subscription. Although it would be nice not to have to pay for one, I don't mind it.
As far as the work out option, I haven't gotten a chance to test it. I do feel it needs better options to choose from with the workout options they have. If it were more like the options on my Apple Watch, it would make it even better. I also feel the period tracking could be better. It's very basic. Just lets you choose a start date and your flow. This is what I wish Oura could put more effort into tweaking on the app. Its period predictability is pretty spot on. But why should we have to use a separate app if we want to get a more detailed breakdown of our menstrual cycle?
I know there are other competitors with more reasonable pricing but Oura really is the way to go. I was able to easily put in my order here and got it the next day! Don't order through the Oura site though. I had an order on their site that was taking forever to get any updates on my order and as it turns out, they were so backed up because they were busy fulfilling their Amazon contract. So just cancelled with them and ordered here and it worked out. If you're debating on getting one, just do it!

Fashionable and provides fascinating health and fitness insights

I was really hesitant to purchase this product, mainly because of the high price point and the subscription based mobile app. While I do understand people's hesitation with the subscription model, I feel like the ring has helped me a lot in the short time I've had it. It seems to be surprisingly accurate in it's sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring and fitness tracking and I often compare it against my apple watch to see if it compiles similar data.
When it comes to sleep, the Oura ring has helped me to develop routines that make for a good night's sleep and gives me valuable insight into my quality of sleep as well. I don't like wearing my apple watch to bed, nor while I am lounging around the house so the ring has been great to help me keep track of things like my steps, calories burned etc. and offers reminders to stand up and move around.
The biggest drawback to this product for me has been the size, I have the largest size and it is slightly too small for me. I am a larger guy and the size 13 would fit better if it was ever so slightly larger but most of the time it isn't a problem... except for when I sleep. My fingers swell a little bit at night time, which leads to me waking up from discomfort cause by the Oura ring and I find myself switching it back and fourth between my index and ring finger throughout the night. I did wear the sizer for a full 24 hours as recommended but the actual ring feels very different from the 3D printed sizers. I am making it work due to the fantastic data it collects.
Overall, I highly recommend this product!

this ring found a medical issue I never knew I had

I purchased the Oura ring because I was not sleeping that well and wanted more information. The ring was easy to set up and was giving me good data on how much sleep I got and in what areas. I noticed that my heart rate was going up when I slept instead of the other way around. I tracked it for several weeks and attempted to get more sleep .. go to bed earlier.. darken my room..etc. It still remained high and there were some gaps in my data which indicates there could be an issue. I had an apt with primary care and told them this .. they ordered a sleep study and cardiology referral. Right around this time my heart rate started increasing during day and I wound up in the ER. The app on my phone was alerting me that my heart rate was up and that I was very stressed. Long story short, I have been diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse with moderate to severe regurgitation and may need a procedure to fix.. I am still going through testing. If it was not for this ring, I would not have known about my sleeping heart rate and would have just thought I was overly exhausted. I now have to check my heart rate and blood pressure etc and the ring is pretty darn accurate. And in my case, it alerted me to a medical issue that was brewing that I knew nothing about. The app is very easy to use and the set up is very easy. I do not feel I am very technical and I find it very easy to use. Currently I am just walking for exercise and the ring tracks my heart rate and how long I walk / distance etc. I would rate this ring 10 stars if I could!
Works great!

I have had this Oura ring for about 2 months now. I purchased the Horizon brushed titanium and I love it! I hesitated to buy it for the longest time because of the price, but finally decided it may be worth it for many reasons. It tracks your HRV (heart rate variability), the duration of your sleep, body temperature and blood oxygen levels. It gives you daily scores in relation to your sleep duration and patterns, activity and readiness for each day, as well as a tally of your active calories burned and a daily activity goal according to your previous daily tracked records.
It also gives you a readout of your stress levels, resilience and a symptom tracker for monitoring your health and provides daily recommendations for improving future sleep and health, all based on your individual daily activity levels and reports
I would recommend using the Oura ring sizing kit before ordering your ring, as the Oura ring sizes seem to run a lot smaller than traditioanal ring sizing. I ordered the Gen3 ring and love the look of it. It was expensive, but I am grateful for the various daily reports and personalized recommendations for better health and rest.
