A simple sleeve that works

This is just a simple sleeve to cover a fishing rod up to the reel. It does not cover the bulge of a reel. There is a draw string to hold it closed. But this sleeve could not be simpler... just a folded over piece of neoprene that is stitched closed. It will help keep the eyes on my rod from getting tangled and boogered up, so that's pretty good.
More protection than a mesh sleeve

I bought this as an alternative to some of the mesh rod sleeves that I have. I find those a little frustrating to work with, often catching on the guides or hooks. This is a lighter thinner rod and so I wanted to have more protection while it was in my car. I selected a small/spinning size for my 5'9 spinning rod. i
It's a good length for that, measuring 54", stopping a few inches above the cork handle and well below the lowest guide. Choosing the right size would be easier if the length were included in the size options or in a size chart, rather than having to make selections and then read updated paragraphs in the description.
There's a nice elastic cord to easily secure it to the reel. Set it once and your all set.
I choose red for visibility, though it's a darker red than I expected. There's a book and loop label option near the open end.
Cost about twice as much as a mesh sleeve, but also offers at least twice the protection.

My rods can get beat up just placing them in my suv when I head out to go kayak fishing . Having 3-4 rods rattling around can be annoying and doesn't do the rods any good. I'm trying out both the Chinese finger trap style and these neoprene rod sleeves to see which type I want to use long term. These are certainly heavier duty than the other style and should protect the blank and guides better. Also the rod tip is unlikely to poke through the material like it can with the net like material in the other kind. Stitching was precise and reinforced at the end and a nice bungee strap to lock sleeve to reel. I use predominantly 6'6" rods in my kayak so went with small which was 60" long. I bought the casting rod model but was able to fit a spinning rod into it as shown in the picture. Guessing that would depend on the size of your guides. Just wish there were a few other colors , would have liked an orange model for high visibility so I don't step on or close a door on rods.
