I like the Starrett 120 series Dial Calipers because of their simple, rugged stainless steel construction and ease of reading. Presently, they are the only dial calipers still made in the United States. The combined design features make these calipers a valuable tool for mechanics, inspectors and engineers. They will give accurate, reliable service under adverse shop or laboratory conditions. To add to the convenience of these calipers, may I suggest adding the Starrett #915 belt-loop leather holster to your order, so your caliper is always handily at your side.
Not the quality that I expected from Starrett.

I ordered the made in the USA version of this caliper and paid a premium price for it. I wanted my son to have this caliper to use for a lifetime. I must say that I'm disappointed in it. When I first removed it from the package the caliper would only open 0.270". It took a lot of effort to open it fully. There are rough spots in the travel which feels like there is grit in the rack or perhaps a bad gear tooth. i plan to call Starrett and see what they have to say.
