The grounding screw in lieu of a ground wire is so annoying
JoanDecember 2, 2017
My old light that came with the house wouldn't go off so I bought this. Turns out it was the same light. I don't know how long the old one was there, so I don't know how long it should last. The old unit's plastic over the sensor broke when I touched it, probably worn out in the extreme heat of the South. My issue with this light, which I wouldn't have bought if I'd known about it, is that there is no ground wire. Instead, you have to wrap the ground wire from the house around a screw in the unit. This is a problem because my ground wire is only about an inch long and won't reach the screw. I took a piece of wire that I had and wrapped it around the screw and attached it to the ground wire. I hope this will work. The light is working on night 1. I hope it lasts for at least a few years.

This is a very solid fixture. The sockets are ceramic and the enclosure is metal. The only thing that is plastic is the motion sensor. I'll update I'd I have any problems with this unit.
When you buy cheap .....
JD WNovember 8, 2017
My bad! You buy cheap - and that's what you get. Assembled in my basement and decided to test it before climbing a ladder to replace the dead one already there. Yep, there is light - then there isn't, then there is, cycling on and off about every 15 seconds no matter which time setting I dialed in. I can't return it since I needed to extend the sensor wires to fit the horizontal box - and yes, they were done correctly, one at a time. Oh and those sockets and mount - a lot flimsier then the 5 year old ones being replaced
Buyer Beware

Cheaply made - and getting one that had been opened before didn't help. Bulb holders could not be tightened in place because teeth didn't hold - had to use white tape to hold them in place. Cover plate not big enough to hold wiring, etc., so not screwed flat to wall surface. Returning it would have left me with no light and cost extra for my handyman to come back again to install a different one. Cannot afford those that are twice the price. It's the same brand and style I bought 10 years ago and had to replace because solar sensor failed. New one came with less options for use. Won't touch one of these again if one of the other 3 I have fails.
bc I bought these in the past and they were wonderful. Guess that they decided to make them cheaper ...

POS. I bought two, both malfunctioned within one week. One of them cycles the lamps on-and-off once a minute ad nauseum, the other turns the lamps on and they flicker at 80-100% power, and never shut off. Damn shame, bc I bought these in the past and they were wonderful. Guess that they decided to make them cheaper in some crappier factory in china.
