I was buying the Air Pot as a present for a friend who was frustrated with his current brand of carafe. I researched everything I could find regarding what made a quality beverage dispenser. I added this list to brands and the one I ultimately chose based on comparison of the two brands.

My friend was very pleased and amazed with the quality of the Air Pot. As he is a Quality Engineer by trade this is a huge endorsement. He is very hard to please.

He always puts hot water in the pot and let's it sit for a few minutes then dumps the water out and replaces it with the hot beverage of his choice. He let me know that, after 8hrs, the beverage was still warm enough to offer pleasurable drinking without the need for reheating. Because of the glass lining he feels that the product is very safe to drink.

So glad I read the reviews before purchasing. I needed an air pot for an outdoor event that was a few days away, and this one seemed to fit the bill best and would arrive on time, but the reviews said that it often arrived broken because they are neither stored nor shipped properly. So I ordered two.

Lo and behold, one arrives broken (you can hear the glass tinkling as soon as you pick up the box!) and the other intact. Returning the broken one to Amazon for a refund and keeping the one that works.

Good pot, just understand that it is very likely to arrive broken.

I organize interview days for applicants to the medical school where I work. Coffee is one of the beverages we offer to both the applicants and the interviewers. I needed different size pots of coffee, that stayed hot all day, for different areas of the day's activities.

To accomplish this I purchased this Zojirushi 2.45-Liter Brew-Thru Air Pot - Polished Stainless Steel, the Mr. Coffee DRD95 8-Cup Stainless Steel Double-Walled Thermal Carafe Accessory and the Mr. Coffee BVMC-SJX33GT 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Chrome , all from Amazon. I needed to be able to brew both 12 and 8 cup pots of coffee and put into different size carafes for serving.

They fit the bill perfectly! How I work my coffee system:
- I ran 8 cups of water through the coffee maker, poured into this carafe to pre-warm.
- Brewed 8 cups of coffee into the glass carafe that came with the coffee maker, poured hot water into hot-pot to pre-warm and put coffee into now warm Mr. Coffee stainless steel carafe.
- Brewed 12 cups of coffee, when ready poured hot water from hot-pot back into reservoir of coffee maker & filled with hot coffee.
- Brewed another 8 cups of coffee to finish filling the hot-pot.

Both this product, the Zojirushi Air Pot and the Mr. Coffee 8 cup stainless steel thermal carafe kept our coffee hot, not just warm, for the entire day. Our cool weather is just starting, so we haven't needed to brew additional coffee and both carafes had a bit of coffee left to sample after 10 hours in the pots. We were very pleased with the results and would recommend without reservation.

This pot is very simple to use, attractive and arrived very well packaged. No cons. Please note that any hot beverage thermal carafe or Air-Pot needs to be pre-warmed, otherwise you're using the heat of your beverage to warm the container and that shortens the time the beverage stays warm. We have a couple of the small Zojirushi carafes and they keep coffee very hot for a long time. This 2.2 liter dispenser does not keep coffee hot enough for very long. We bought it for those times when we have guests over and we make a full pot of coffee. Leaving the pot on the machines heating element changes the taste very quickly, so it is much better to transfer it to an insulated dispenser as soon as brewing is complete. As long as the coffee is consumed within an hour this dispenser works well.

There is only one air pot better than this one and they are no longer in business. This keeps coffee HOT! and when I say hot I mean brew at 0730 and it's still hot at 1700 - and that is with half a pot brewed. Zojirushi is an amazing product. I have purchased numerous Air Pots (I think I can open a store) and they are by far the best. The liner is glass and I think that is what does the trick. The outside is shiny and can get dinged so be a bit more careful. The inside has a small opening and that isn't a bad thing as it keeps the coffee hot. As for cleaning, a bottle brush dos the trick and since it's glass it cleans beautifully. The plunger is usually the issue but this one does remarkably well. We will purchase more as they are needed.
