Non-traditional use: great for concrete beams in a downtown loft!
Jenncard•June 24, 2015
I live in a downtown loft studio and needed a way to get my bike up and out of the way. I'd purchased this Bike Hoist but REALLY didn't want to drill into the concrete ceiling and beams, plus they were quite the right distance anyhow. I know the load limit rating is for clamping pressure and not "outward" pulling force, but I figured the 1,000 pound load limit should be enough to hold my bike!
I did have to remove the protective caps because they kept sliding off. But again, this is due to my own "non-tradition" use of these bar clamps more than any sort of issue with the clamps themselves. I'm just as happy as cam be!

Warning - Not Labeled "Made in USA" anymore...
C. Martin•January 14, 2015
I own a few of the old-style Jorgensen clamps with wood handles and they were labeled "Made in USA". The clamps that I received were nothing like shown in the picture and are NOT labeled made in USA. The handles are presumably cheap plastic and rubber as shown in my uploaded pictures.
The quality of the clamps appears similar to my old style clamps and I will be using them soon, so we will see if these 'imported' clamps stand up to the durability and precision of the old clamps. At the moment I can't comment on the actual quality of the clamps so they will stand at 3 stars because they were nothing like shown in the pictures. May increase or decrease rating depending on how the clamps perform.

A Quality Clamp
Kirk D. Skorzak•September 29, 2014
A good, well made clamp. The clamp works smoothly without any 'hitches or hang-ups' in movement and it tightens easily. The plastic pads are handy to have for use on delicate or easily marred items but they do slip unless you have a firm surface to grip against, but they are easily removed for rougher duty and then replaced for lighter duty. It also stands upright on its' back/spine to hold items up and off my workbench if I'm keeping something compressed while gluing..
Good clamps!

I wanted something a little heavier duty that I could use for construction jobs and not worry that I was putting too much pressure on the clamp. I subscribe to the school of "woodworking projects (joints) should fit well and not require excessive clamping pressure" but when you are holding or moving construction grade lumber, you need pressure. These clamps are strong and not nearly as heavy as pipe clamps, so will be handy in the workshop as well. I liked these so much, I bought some 3724-HDs too!
Jorgensen Clamps are great
Shipping Monitor•January 24, 2014
This is a heavy duty and weight clamp. it is for major clamping not for clamping small pieces for it would cause movement with its weight. Packaging between vendors range from excellent (lots of tight bubble wrap to just loosely place in the box so it can be lost in shipment. I have experienced both with the loss of a clamp in shipment. It is difficult to correct shipping problems. I can take months to get replacement and proper packaging.
