I am using these in hopes of staving off macular degeneration. At 48, I did the 23 and Me DNA testing and it came back with results that strongly linked me to having macular degeneration later in life. Hopefully, this specialty vitamin will keep me from getting it. Fingers crossed.

This is not an AREDS2 formulation (Age Related Eye Disease Study #2) that reduces the risk of macular degeneration. This is a supplement that conatins some of the AREDS2 recommended ingredients and/or amounts for eye health as well as containing other vitamins and minerals. Consider getting an AREDS2 formulation for optimal eye health (and wear dark glasses outside to help prevent cataracts). I picked up I-Caps for a good price at Walmart but when I am out, I'm going for the ARED2 formulation from Amazon or elsewhere.

My husband and I have been taking these for about 4 months. I can't say whether it has helped our eyes or not, but I know that no eye vitamin can make miracles after we turn 50 and we haven't noticed any decline on our vision in this period of time either. I wish it had more than 2 mg of lutein, but it also has many other important vitamins and minerals that are good for eye and overall health.
