For the medium nib fountain: Super smooth, no skipping, sleek and attractive. This pen is absolutely the best. All Cross pens are, from my experience. Compared to the King pen, which is nice, and the Zenzoi million dollar pen, which is nicer, this pen has a great solid feel and the NICEST, smoothest writing. Some of the other fountain pens are fun to look at and offer flashy cases, for unparalleled ease of writing and unsurpassed quality, Cross beats them all and is worth every dollar for a pen in the "under $100" range. Not having the opportunity to compare with a Waterman or Mont Blanc yet, this has pens in comparable price range beat hands down.

Very nice pen but too thin

I have had the pencil version for almost 20 years and got this one to match. I really like the pen however i feel it's too thin that it's not very ergonomic. Overall I really like it but maybe not for a lot of writing.

Update: Bought a couple more since my original purchase months ago. Gave one as a gift to a close relative. I'd give it 6 stars if I could, especially at the price I purchased this time around, $25. Not going to find a better deal (and let me know if you do). One minor flaw that I have noticed is that the clip loosens over time. I started using these Cross Classic on a daily basis, turning the cap many times a day. Still love these pens.

Call me sentimental but this Cross Classic Century Pen is the best pen (given as a gift) I had growing up. The clip broke and the pen was lost. More than a decade later, while searching online for a nice pen, I come across this old friend. This is one of the best pens I have ever written with. I love the slim narrow barrel. The gold plated appointment is luxurious and classy without being over-stated. Oh, and it writes well too!
