The machine works just fine. The pizzelles made from the old maker were much thinner and larger. I thought the price was pretty high.
Best Pizzelles Hot Off the Press!!!
Woody•October 16, 2010
I was brought up in an Italian family where pizzelles were not only a treat, but a tradition. The only difference was that when we made them we made them one at a time over a hand held press over a gas flame!! Lots of time to make a batch...which were almost devoured in no time. This VillaWare Pizzelle Baker was the answer. Right from the start the pizzelles come out perfect. The recipe book provided gives you so many options from the standard anise flavor!! I thought that I would only enjoy the "original" pizzelles, but I've been trying other recipes and they're all great. If you love pizzelles you'll love this baker!! Think "great gift for any age"! Eat 'em up!!
Pizelle Maker Works Excellent!

I bought this machine and it makes great Pizelles! The size of the Pizelle is just right for eating, and for storing in a tin. I was at Crate and Barrel and I found a really nice quality cookie dough scooper (like a tiny ice cream scoop with a trigger release) that I use to measure and scoop the Pizelle dough onto the iron. ($12.95) It is just the right size so I would recommend getting that too to make it easier. Cleaning is super easy also since it is non-stick. Just wipe off with a paper towel and you're done! Sprinkle the cookie with powdered sugar to give it a snowflake look!
Easy Pizzelle Maker

Yum! I used a small cookie scoop to drop the batter the same size every time and my husband's stopwatch as a timer (an IPHONE timer app would also work) to get picture-perfect results. At first I wished for a timer or some flashing light to tell me when they were done, but in using the machine I've noticed different batters take different times to cook to that fabled golden-brown so the light or built-in timer would be annoying. Once you do about 2 sets, you know how long the Pizzelle's take with your specific batter. Also, I've tried many of the recipes in the book and they all really do work- an added bonus. A GREAT product- would def. recommend!
