Once I realized that you need a little bit of flour on the mat, I was completely happy. I'm 66 years old and am FINALLY able to roll out a good looking pie crust. I haven't tried cheaper pastry mats. I wanted one that wasn't make in China so I ordered this one. I think I did good!

I am in love. I have 2 of these and just bought one for my mother in law. This is the only way my husband will bake cookies. So much better than parchment paper. Releases food easily and works at high temps. Have used for cookies, making baked breaded chicken breasts, oven french fries, and so much more. Easy to clean. Worth every penny on saved cost of parchment paper and saved time as clean up is a breeze. I have read somewhere that they shouldn't go in the dishwasher, but I have always put mine in the dishwasher and never had a problem.

I use these for rolling out pie crusts. Put the pie crust on the mat, cover with wax paper. Roll it out. Both the Silpat and the wax paper come off easily. To transfer into the pie pan, remove the wax paper. Invert the silpat onto the pie pan, and gently work the crust off the split. Works like a charm every time.

After nearly 15 years of use, I finally had to replace my very worn-out Silpat Roul'pat mat. 15 years is a pretty good run, so I replaced it with the same Roul'Pat mat. It's a wonderful kitchen tool, easily stored by rolling it around your rolling pin, easy to clean, and very easy to use. I can't imagine using anything else. In fact, not sure what I would do without this.
