Well Made Triangles For A Good Price
ValandurIX✓ Verified Purchase•November 6, 2023
First the good; these triangles are definitely worth the money, I recently had to use them for the first time to help out a friend of mine who hit a deer so what I was impressed about them was how heavy the black base at the bottom of each triangle is, whatever is inside them is pretty dense, with cars going 50 to 70 miles past them, they didn't move. The orange is very bright and the red reflective pieces are definitely well made and highly refractive. The storage of the 3 triangles is also pretty neat, they fit inside a red box that is a little bigger than a foot and 5 inches wide, so they definitely do not take up a lot of space. On the other hand though when I first opened the box when I went to help out my friend, the triangles were all lightly coated in this dust of varying colors, I'm not sure if this is from the manufacturing process or that the bases are leaking the material but I had to clean them at the spot. So as a note I would recommend that you check them when you receive, I made the mistake of just getting the box and putting them in the truck of my car.
Better Warning Triangles than some of the other brands.

Nice quality for the price on these safety triangles.
I specifically bought these James King 1005-1 Warning Triangles set because these have sturdier looking little plastic support legs on the ends of the triangles that help the unit resist falling over once setup and rotated perpendicular to the weighted bottom. Many of the other Warning Triangle sets available (like Sate-Lite and Blazer) have the little plastic support legs taper to a point. Seeing as the support legs are just plastic tabs with no metal reinforcements, I prefer the fact that these legs/tabs don't taper to a point. The weighted bottoms are nice and heavy to keep these triangles in place even with the gusts from passing semis at highway speeds. The bright orange triangles are easily visible from a distance, and the reflectorized sections make them even easier to see at night.
As with other reviews, I would recommend practicing opening and setting these up in broad daylight (or indoors where it's bright enough to see it clearly and what you're doing) so you can do it easily and competently should the need arise. The triangles themselves are plastic, and while practicing deploying these in the daytime the first time, I noted a couple of sticking points while opening one of the triangles. Forcing it open in the dark could potentially have broken the plastic. After familiarizing myself with how they deploy, if one of them sticks while opening it in the dark, I know which way to pull it to open it without the risk of breaking anything.
While doing my due diligence and reading all the reviews I could find for all the Warning Triangle sets available from numerous sellers/sites and sources, I read numerous reviews complaining about the red plastic box that holds the folded triangles, with some of the other options. I saw more than one review of the other brands of Warning Triangle sets mentioning that the box/case that came with those was worthless, or easily deformed when simply trying to lift the box with the triangles inside, and with the box not being able to close or stay closed once it had been opened and the triangles had been taken out the first time. That was certainly NOT the experience I had with this James King 1005-1 Warning Triangle set.
While the included red plastic box that holds the 3 folded triangles is not the sturdiest box out there (it's not a Pelican case), unlike reviews of other Warning Triangle sets, the box that came with this James King set was easily sturdy enough to hold the triangles nicely while carrying them out to the car and moving them from the trunk of one car to the other without deforming or popping open etc. I also had no issues with the hinges or the tabs that hold the box closed after taking all 3 triangles out and deploying them and then putting them back in the box.
The set is well worth the money for safety and peace of mind.
I would also highly recommend getting a bright, reflective safety vest like this Neiko vest, http://www.amazon.com/Neiko-Visibility-Yellow-Zipper-Reflective/dp/B0030AA3YK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438236881&sr=8-1&keywords=neiko+safety+vest and very importantly, keeping it where you can get to it from inside the car. That way, you can put the vest on before stepping out of your vehicle and be highly visible to motorists while outside the relative safety of your vehicle. The last thing you want to happen is to be struck by an inattentive motorist when you step out of your vehicle to set up your warning triangles.
*** And to be completely clear, I have no affiliation whatsoever with the companies producing/selling ANY of these Warning Triangle sets. I simply read ALL the reviews I could find for all the various available sets before choosing this one and came to the realization they're not all the same and there are some small differences between them.

Take up little space in the back of my SUV

I ordered these warning triangles because I live in an area with lots of 2-lane roads in hills with winding curves everywhere. Were I or anyone I'm behind to break down on these roads with little to no shoulders to drive over onto, these triangles can be lifesavers. Haven't had to use them yet and hope I never have to. These 3 bright and sturdy triangles fold up and fit perfectly into the red plastic container you see in the photo. These are heavy duty items, not chintzy pieces of ****, so will do the job they're supposed to do when the time comes. Quick to unfold, place, refold when done, and return to their case. Better safe than sorry, I say. Great product.
Better than expected

These are pretty awesome! They're heavy and thicker than the other ones I have and stand up better in the wind. The box they came in is durable and thick as well, but also too bulky to slide under the driver seat where I keep them within fast and easy reach. That's not a knock on the product, just a thought shared in case someone else has that as a consideration for storage placement. Great product!
HEAVY

Spec says "10 lbs" Each triangle is HEAVY. The plastic box, with the included three triangles, was three times HEAVY. The orange plastic box with the three triangles tried to escape from the Amazon shipping box before delivery. The triangles connect at the top by first placing an upper plastic arm behind the other upper arm. The assembly and placement instructions are etched into the inside of the orange plastic box. Now I have to figure out the steps needed for a "pace." Amazon promised over night shipping. Day one, the shipment, with a perfect shipping label, snoozed in the delivery truck until 2 pm, then went back to the warehouse. It was finally delivered on day two. Did I say these babies are HEAVY?
