Black snubbers inside leaves bad marks on the knife.

Pop out the four rubber snubbers inside the case BEFORE you put a knife in it. The first time I placed my brand new Victorinox knife in it for just a few seconds, the rubber snubbers inside the case left marks on both sides of the knife and had to rub a lot just to remove them. The knife will fit ok without them. POOR design.
Great

I love these blade protectors. I'm in culinary school and the sheaths provided with the (very sharp) knives in my kit were a joke - flexible plastic that was shredded in a matter of weeks and a pain to get on and off. My knives were starting to slice the fabric of my kit, so I knew I had to do something. I bought one of these to test out and loved it so much that I ordered two more in different sizes. They work perfectly. My only complaint is that the rubber strips that hold the knife steady inside the case leave a faint rubber imprint on the blade - nothing to worry about, just bugged me a little bit to see a small smudge on my nice, clean knives every time I pulled them out. Still very happy with the protectors, though. Definitely check them out - can't beat the price.
Very solid & secure, but leaves marks on the blade

This is a nice solid safe, or should I say vault, for your chef's knife.
Unfortunately, I have to echo other reviewers' comments about the little rubber bumpers. The manufacturer REALLY needs to revisit the chemical compound for these bumpers. They do their job very well and hold the blade securely in place; however, they leave ugly rub marks on the blade. I have not yet found a way to totally remove the marks. Needless to say, I do not like extraneous marks on my Victorinox blades!
There are workarounds: a piece of tissue paper, a remnant of paper towel, a very thin piece of cloth, a piece of thin cardboard. These all work to a greater-or-lesser degree and none are truly satisfactory. And, since this is guard is not the easiest to open or close, the inclusion of these workarounds only compounds the difficulty of accessing or storing the knife.
Pros: very solid protection
Cons: difficult to open/close; nasty little rub marks on the blade
Great - Found Solution To Black Tab Smudge Issue

I bought the 6-8" sized BladeSafe for my 8" Victorinox chef's knife (Victorinox 8 Inch Fibrox Pro Chef's Knife in Clamshell Packaging). It fits perfect. I was concerned about the black rubber tabs marking my blade like other reviews mentioned so I just put some invisible tape over each and this has prevented any marks (it fits tight enough it doesn't shift around for the tape to do damage either). I also noticed some reviewers have put the blade facing out where the locks sit but the blade should be facing down towards the spine of the BladeSafe itself (this also prevents cutting yourself when you open it). I like that the locks are tight enough to keep it closed but not harsh enough to struggle to get them open. Overall I am super happy with this product. Thanks Victorinox!
Excellent protection, ugly marks

This serves an excellent job of protecting, but be carefully warned that the marks it leaves will occur after just a few seconds. No amount of soap and water will remove these marks, but fortunately some cheap cooking oil such as canola will make these marks solvate away. So be sure you have some cheap cooking oil on hand when using these bladesafes. They really are the best option available for more delicate knives like the Japanese ones when all you have available is a drawer for storage (I live in a dorm so space is limited).
