If only I could give this less than a 1 star. This is the second drill press I have ordered from this manufacturer in a week. The first one had a damaged motor base because the packing material was totally inadequate to protect the unit. The base of the motor rests against the head unit post in the box... nothing is between the two... any amount of jostling pushes the motor against the post and crushes the base (and the enclosed fan). The manufacturer doesn't hold back on coating everything in the box with oil, but can't appear to afford throwing in a bit of styrofoam between the parts. I had every hope that this would be a great drill press, but two disappointments in a row is too much. The photo attached shows the damaged motor that was discovered when I tried to turn it on. If you order this you will be disappointed.

Sorry. I want to love this, but arriving damaged has really dampened my spirit. I should've taken note from all the other reviews that said the same thing. Also, the unit looked refurbished. The pulley wheels inside were noticeably worn and chipped. Not what I expected, but what was warned.

Not sure how it's all going to fit back in the busted up box, but I'll do the best I can, then wrap it with a whole roll of packing tape. At this point- taking it apart is a huge hassle, so you guys are lucky I'm not dropping it off whole to your store.

So glad i decided to go with the shop fox! This thing has been holding up to some serious use as both a sander and drill and has held up superbly so far. The pulleys are made of metal and it runs extremely smooth. Definitely a quality product.

The Drill Press that I received was not exactly like the item pictured. The piece that mounts just above the chuck that supports the depth stop rod in the picture is black and the one that came with mine is made of red plastic and has a debris shield. The first drill press I received was shipped in the retail box and it was beat up as well as the machine. The motor had a big dent in it, paint chipped off in several places, and when could even get it to turn on it made a grinding sound that was coming from above the chuck. Amazon did send me a new one overnight , but shipped in the exact same packaging so the second one arrived beat up as well. The drill press did run smoothly and the deficiency was there was some paint chipped off. I called and complained about the packaging again to try to prevent this from happening to anyone else. It is a very solid drill press except the cheap depth rod mount. I just do not understand why Shop Fox would make every other part out of steel and cast iron but that one piece. I am going to contact Shop Fox to see if they will send me a metal Depth rod holder and if the do I will raise my rating of 2 stars to 4 stars. Over all this has been a very frustrating experience.
