While the Boy Scouts program is a little different these days, this heart-warming story is a great testament to the positive influence of Scouting in the life of a boy. My younger boys find some of the spots slow (compared to the frenetic modern editing style they are accustomed to) but everyone in the family loves to sing "Follow Me Boys!"

I liked the movie, but amazon packaged it in a flimsy paper bag with other items and the dvd case was severely damaged

Disney's best kept secret or something- I'd never heard of this gem. This movie is full of heart, laughs, and love. Great for a huge age range.

Those with very young or sensitive children should know:
*There's a few times where we see a boy's drunk father and there are about 2 referrences to his going to the billiard hall and/or drunkenness.
*That same boy has a few angry and emotional outbursts
*There are a few deaths- one eluded to, one the ill person is shown but looks like they're sleeping
*There's one or two premarital kisses on lips and 2 marital smooches
*A war-games scene that might be scary for young ones that don't understand that it's not real even in the movie (but no human to human violence or blood etc)

This one is worth the nearly 2 hours. Our family enjoyed it very much.

This is just such a great movie. I have four boys, 7-11 years old and they all really enjoyed this and so did I.

I can't get the catchy marching song out of my head! (I didn't know Fred McMurray could sing reasonably well) This movie is classic Walt Disney and a movie everyone can enjoy. There's real life events in this movie, such as conflicts between boys, jealousy, and love. Great movie.
