Very easy to use
Dee's ViewsSeptember 23, 2016
I purchased this to keep track of my heat press temperature. When using a heat press for Sublimation it is very important that you have a constant temperature through out the press. If you have a cold spot it will definitely ruin what ever you are trying to press. I was amazed at how easy it is to use. point click and you know what temperature it is. When I first got it I was pointing and clicking on everything. Recently I was having a problem with my oven temperature. I was able to test it in the oven and have thought about other things I can test in the Kitchen. I love to find creative ways to use things so I'm happy I can now use it for more than one application.
You are a better cook with this tool

I use this tool to determine the temp of fats before I add proteins or vegetables. For instance when blackening fish, you need the fat very hot ( 500 Deg using avocado oil ) but too hot and you oxidize the fat causing potential harmful products.

It measures very quickly and pointing it at boiling water it is just a few degrees short of 212. So right in the ball park.

It seconds as a diagnostic tool on my cars, boats and trucks. (Brakes pull check the rotor temps for differences, Missing cylinder, check each cylinder exhaust manifold temps.)
You gotta have one of these

I was watching Alton Brown and saw him use this and had to have one immediately. I use it all the time, as in every day at least once. It is much more reliable than sticking a thermometer in things, and there is no thermometer I know of that will tell you how hot the base of your pan is when you're getting all set to throw eggs in it. Other ways I use it? Is my Dr. Pepper cold enough yet? Is the water for my pizza dough 108 degrees? Is the corner where I'm allowing my dough to rise warm enough? Is the chicken in the meat bin at the store 35 degrees or less? No? How about one in the back of the bin? Yes? Cool! Did you know the tile floor is the same temperature as the room? Well, it is. Did you know a black cat lying in the sun in the summer in Tucson has a surface hair temperature of 125 degrees? Did you know that makes them happy??? Do you know that this gadget takes that temperature so fast that you only have to be outside long enough to aim, squeeze the trigger, and run back in the house and slam the door quick?

Well, get one and join me in the adventure of temperature!
Really liking this a lot

I was doing some experimentation where heat might become a factor. I needed many baseline readings before modifications and even more afterwards spanning many days. This worked extremely well.

Now I use it for everything. Get up to look at the thermostat for room temp? Not likely. I use the IR gun.

Consistent bath or hot tub temp? I use this every time.

When I suspect hot spots in car mechanics or electronics? Here comes the IR gun again.

Even with heavy usage, seems to me that battery life is VERY long.

I read some complaints about various makes and models of these (including this one) before buying. This seemed to be one of the best bang for the buck models based on feedback.

I have no negatives about this device.

Background: I'm a former master mechanic, so I'm picky about tools. While this one "looks" kinda' clunky (not like a star wars pistol or anything), it works GREAT. Highly recommended.
Accurate reading, esay to use

The laser light is bright, the display is easy to read, and it works just as expected. No disappointments. I compared the temperature readings with other thermometers, and this was very accurate. It let me find warm and cold spots in my house, around doors and windows, etc., to let me know where I am losing heat.

I raise orchids in Florida and had to be careful this past winter as we had unusually low temperatures. I need to bring them inside when the temp is below 48. This let me test different areas of my patio to find the warm and cold spots -- all my orchids lived.

I also always suspected my oven was not as hot as it was supposed to be, and this confirmed my oven runs cool. This tool was also helpful in finding the perfect temps for making yogurt, raising pizza or bread dough and using my grill. Now that I have it, I don't know how I lived without one.
