THINK TWICE, and TAKE CAUTION.

Erratic operation. I have DirecTV, a Blueray Disc Player, a flat-screen TV and a receiver. The DirecTV box rarely comes on or turns off without extra manipulation, including getting up and holding the remote directly in front of the box (not using this device, at all). Almost every time, the red light on the pyramid in the room comes on and stays on for an extended time. When that light is on, nothing passes through the device. When I called customer service, they told me "it must be interference." If these devices are that tempermental around electronics, they are in the wrong business. There are all kinds of RF, infrared and other devices in the world today. STAY AWAY!! I'm looking for a reliable WIRED solution.

Garbage. Bought an infrared repeater kit and it works great for my cable box however I cannot get it to work with my Pioneer Elite receiver due to the placement of transmitter eye. Very strange considering I have another room set up with about 5 devices (receiver - different make, 2 cable boxes, Xboxes etc...) and it works fine. Thought this would solve my problem. I did read the negative reviews but thought I'd give it a whirl. In short, save your money. Just like other reviews, worked for the first couple of days, now it does nothing. Might work every 15 pushes of the button. Junk. Started the return.
Pretty good results

I needed this product to solve for a line of sight issue with my infrared remote control to my cable HD/DVR. I couldn't get a good angle with my cable box from our couch, so I bought this to allow for the remote to function without having to keep getting up to change the channel! The product is small and compact, aesthetically pleasing, and is plug and play. HOWEVER, the receiving device had to be perfectly placed in front of the infrared eye of my DVR. So allow for space for the receiver to sit in front and pointing directly at your equipment's infrared eye. It took me a while to get it perfectly aligned to a point where I almost gave up and returned it. So have some patience to get it lined up, then you should be good. Also, I noticed that while the response to the remote is good, I have to mash the button quickly twice for each time I want to change the channel or scroll on the guide. Not sure if this is a compatibility thing or a response thing. At the end of the day, this works for my needs, albeit not the perfect solution.
this product worked pretty good with my U-Verse "cisco" receiver/dvr
teiapthwiwepO•February 24, 2015
Initially, this product worked pretty good with my U-Verse "cisco" receiver/dvr. As time goes by it works - but sketchy. With U-Verse HD channels you need to enter 4 digits and unless you're quick and deliberate it will double up a number. Oddly it works better if you don't point the remote directly at it but to the side. Still, better than going to another room to change channels. Just a bit frustrating at times. If/when I have to replace it I will try a different brand.
Unreliable

This worked great for the first hour after hooking it up. It was easy to set up and the range was fine for what I need. But after an hour, the transmitter stopped recognizing the signal. (The light inside wouldn't come on when I pressed a remote button) If I tapped it a couple of times or gave it a light shake, it would start working again, but only for a few minutes. After another hour or so of this, it stopped working altogether no matter how many taps or shakes it got. So right back in the box it went. Thanks to Amazon for their great return policy.
It's a shame because if you're lucky enough to get one that actually works, it does a really good job. I wasn't so lucky.
