Finally! A CB that fit in my Kia Soul! It is a nice average CB. Exactly what I wanted for my car. I mated it to an antique Turner +3 mic with a new element and I am happy. Save your fun complex rig for your home. This is a nice simple car radio that fits most places.
Easy radio to tune and use

Easy radio to tune and use. Have it mounted in my Jeep.
Pretty sure I shorted the radio out, even through the inline fuse. Or it just died from being knocked around on the trails. Worth buying another and repairing the old one because they are inexpencive and perform well.

Excellent CB ... and the FUN is back!

I haven't had a CB since the early 80s as a teenager. After researching the top dollar CBs, I accidently found this Midland 1001Z. Hard-wired installation was a breeze as was using the included mounting bracket. My only problem (it's mine, not the CBs) is finding a decent place to put the mic. Although a result of a good CB antenna (got a Wilson Little Wil magnet), I was pleasantly surprised to be pulling in good conversations from 5miles away (home to interstate).
Hint: although I try to mount all extra stuff on my passenger side, keep in mind where the speaker is - on the bottom. Since I mounted mine on passenger side, the speaker faces the driver - making sound much clearer.

Definitely worth it.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!! This is amazing for the price. Came packaged very well, separate and protected. All wrapped in plastic to cover it and everything is very good quality seems built to last. Easy to install and looks very nice. Speaker is very loud enough. This has the squelch and RF gain which is awesome. Great radio for a beginner CB. This may not be too important but it even comes with a free sticker included!
Great beginner CB radio

Great little radio, and got it for a cheap price so that sweetened the deal. Came with all the necessary mounting brackets, and everything feels like it is good quality. The CB bracket holds fast and the mic bracket is sturdy despite its small size. I've got it mounted on the center console facing my seat and even though I've bumped into it multiple times, it always keeps it's shape. The PA function is nice to have is you joined a PA speaker to it. Have not tested the external speaker port, but the internal speaker is great and loud enough to hear from inside a closed center console. Being a first time user of CB systems, I did think that I had blown the speaker due to turning the car on and off, but I had accidently turned the "squelch" button all the way up which basically muted everything, including the static. Turned it back down and the sound came back like normal. The only complaint I have is that everytime the power resets when I cut the car off, the channel goes back to CH9. Otherwise it is a solid unit for a great price.
