Great recorder for a great price!

My 10-year-old son started recorder class a week ago. I use to play a number of musical instruments in my youth and can still read music. I bought this as it is the same one he is using and I wanted to practice with him. The recorder is well made and plays beautifully (as much as a recorder can). Great purchase!
Perfect for what we needed!

Order for my little girl. She starts the recorder this year in school. Shipping was super fast and exactly what we were looking for! Thanks so much.

Been waiting a week to get this. Was excited when the UPS guy handed me my bubble wrap envelope. Was sickened when I opened the package, however. Even if I could boil it clean it's unsightly! Major abrasions down the front, chips out of the paint, scratches, and what I'm guessing is oily fingerprints. I really don't know what it is...and just dirty. They couldn't even wipe it down! Who on earth thought this was acceptable to sell?! Not like they warned it was used, I would have never bought it. Rant over. It's going back. So disappointed.
Excellent starter instrument

Pros:
* Perfectly in tune with my much more expensive (and the BEST plastic Recorder made, IMO) Aulos recorder (A703B)
* Arched Windway.
* 2+ Octave range easy to play the full range.
* One piece, but the right hand pinky notes are offset comfortably.

Cons:
* Finish had some paint from the case melted (?) onto it, rubbing alcohol improved this.
* Construction material seems to be a lower quality (and thinner) plastic than more expensive recorders which makes me question the durability.
* Fit and finish is also comparatively sloppy.
* Very cheap plastic case.
* Tone is not as good as the most expensive Recorders. For the price it is decent.
Overall: 5/5 for the price.

Verdict: For this price this Recorder is unbeatable. If you are a serious player you will want to invest in some other instruments, but nothing wrong with carrying one of these around in your backpack and/or vehicle anyway. :-)

If you are serious about playing I would recommend either of these two:

1. Aulos "Haka" Soprano: https://www.amazon.com/Aulos-Classroom-Recorder-Soprano-A703B/dp/B001LG7TUG
2. Yamaha YRS402B "ECODEAR" Soprano: https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-YRS402B-Baroque-ECODEAR/dp/B0134BIH1K/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1518223397&sr=1-1&keywords=ecodear+recorder

Out of both my slight favorite is the Aulos but they are both perfectly in tune and sound fantastic solo, in a band, or whatever.
Annoy your family with the gift of music.

I gave the gift of music to all my niblings this Christmas, much to the chagrin of my siblings and in laws. Their graceful honks and toots lit up the living room just as much as the lights on the tree. The instrument itself is sturdy with no moving parts and a fancy cleaning stick that I anticipate will be lost before anyone can think of the need to use it. I expect a full orchestral rendition of Hot Cross Buns next holiday season with a little practice.
