Definitely would not recommend for a hamster

Definitely would not recommend for a hamster. This cage is flimsy, difficult to assemble because it will not stay together. The lid/door will not keep a hamster in for a minute. I bought this primarily to add some living space for our hamster but I am not impressed with the workmanship of this cage at all. It isn't worth the hassle to return it but I will definitely have to make some modifications to make it work. and prevent escapes.
Update: Duct tape applied to the corners of the lid will keep the hamster in. With all of the designer tape available the tape doesn't have to be all that noticeable. I also removed the water bottle and opted for one I had for another cage system. The bottle leaked like a sieve and emptied itself overnight so all of the bedding had to be changed. I have connected this little cage to two others which gives our girl another "room" to explore.

It's great for shirt trios

I bought this for a travel cage, but I have hooked it to the other cages as well. My son lost the water bottle and I wish I could find a replacement as nothing I have will fit through the narrow bars. It's great for shirt trios, but I would never leave a hamster just in this. For those complaining about the size, it clearly says carrying cage.
The listed as included "exercise wheel" is NOT INCLUDED.

I bought this as an expansion for my class pet cage so I don't have to take the big one home. The photo of the box on Amazon clearly lists "Exercise Wheel" in what it includes. The item I received was the correct item, but the box did not have the wheel on the included list. I would not have bought without at least something for the pet to do while in the cage. What a waste of time.

I do not want to kill the mice I find around the house. So I use a cube trap (they work great) then I collect them in the carrier. I then take them to the neighbors and turn them loose (just kidding) I take them at least a half mile away into a field and turn them loose. This carrier is great except for the water bottle which leaks. Was not a big deal to me as I just put a small bowl in there. And I did not complain. I am sure the seller would have taken care of it if I had asked.
